Lefkada is a part of the Ionian Islands cluster and it is situated on the northern part of the island of Kefallonia and at a very close distance to Ithaca and the coast of the prefecture of Etoloakarnania. MAJOR TOWNS / CITIES / VILLAGES Lefkada: The town of Lefkada is the capital of the island, which is considered to be a spiritual and cultural center full of amazing sightseeing and important history. At center of the beautiful town you can see several traditional houses that embellish the appealing settlement. Nidri: Nidri is the most popular tourist center of the island of Lefkada. It is a modern town, built along the coast, in the heart of a verdant plain. Sivota: Sivota is a small, picturesque settlement built at a fiord, where the sea is always warm and calm and boats can wharf. Agios Nikitas: Agios Nikitas is a traditional and at the same time cosmopolitan settlement, which has been declared scheduled and it is full of beautiful beaches and deep blue waters. Vassiliki: Vassiliki, a scenic and verdant large village built in a leeward gulf is considered to be one of the most frequented tourist resorts of the island of Lefkada.  TRANSPORTATION BY FERRY: Nidri and Vasiliki are connected with Kefallonia and Ithaca. BY AIRPLANE: From the airport Eleftherios Venizelos at Spata there are daily flights to the town of Aktio at Preveza. The duration of the flight is 1 hour. From Aktio you can take the bus to Lefkada.. BY BUS: From Athens there are daily bus itineraries to the island of Lefkada. The duration of the journey is 5 hours. Lefkada is also connected with the town of Agrinio.
